Our History
2006
Our Founding
CMS was founded in 2006 by the Henderson family as a sister company to their established cellulose insulation manufacturing company, Nu-Wool Co., LLC. The emphasis for the founding of the business was to focus on diversification and creating a variety of highly sustainable products by employing industry-leading technology and customer service.
2009
First Product Line

CMS creates and trademarks its first product line! ECOCELL batt and blanket insulation materials become an industry’s first cellulose-based batt and blanket insulation. ECOCELL products are now sold through our sister company, Nu-Wool Co., LLC.
In the same year, CMS created a revolutionary line of cellulose and recycled fiber based architectural acoustic products that helped us make our debut in the acoustical market.
2012
Accredited Manufacturer Status
With quality and customer service as two of its corporate values, CMS becomes an ISO 9001 accredited manufacturer.
2010-2019
Continual Product Innovation
CMS continues to innovate new sustainable products made with high percentages of recycled fiber for applications ranging from insulated and protective packaging, industrial absorbents, architectual acoustical panels, as well as acoustical materials for OEM automotive and office furniture manufacturers.
2013
Thermal Packaging
CMS officially enters the thermal packaging market by developing and launching our InfinityCore thermal packaging product. This was the first fully #1 rPET-based thermal packaging product in the market!
2019
Post Processing
At CMS, we continued to innovate and, with the inclusion of new machinery and technology, we expanded our post-processing capabilities as a company. This allowed us to offer unique value-added services and desired customization options for our customers — truly setting us apart in the industry!
August 2021
InfinityCore Becomes Patented
2021
Making Further Sustainability Strides
CMS installs new machinery which allows us to recycle waste products from our manufacturing process back into new products. This is another example of how we at CMS invest in innovative technologies to grow our commitment to recycling and sustainability!
2022
Expanding HQ to improve capabilities and service

CMS expands headquarters in Jenison, MI by installing an additional manufacturing line and 55,000 sqft of warehousing space. This additional manufacturing line and space will allow CMS to recycle over 20 million pounds of fiber including paper, polyester, and cotton that might have otherwise ended up in landfills.
May 2022
InfinityCell becomes patented

InfinityCell—our thermal packaging product made from recycled paper—becomes a patented product.
Patent # US PAT. NO. 11,338,985.
2024
Protective Packaging Line

CMS launches InfinityCore: Protective — our official protective packaging product. This product was created to rival non-sustainable foams. This version of InfinityCore is fully customized to each payload, ensuring truly reliable protective performance.
July 2024
Acquired by SOPREMA
In 2024, Nu-Wool & CMS were officially acquired by SOPREMA. This has allowed the Nu-Wool & CMS companies to consolidate and be a part of a larger group committed to excellence and sustainability in the world of building materials and innovative products. SOPREMA has remained a family-owned company despite its massive international footprint. We are excited to now be under the SOPREMA umbrella of companies, committed to delivering premium products, superior customer service, and remaining focused on sustainability!

Our Pledge to Protect the Planet
Recycling Since 1949
Our family of companies have been a part of the recycling industry since 1949. Collectively Nu-Wool Co., LLC and Cellulose Material Solutions recycle over 70 million pounds of fibers and paper particles a year with the capacity to recycle much more. Recycling is crucial in the environmental impact we create and our focus is to continue expanding the circular marketplace with additional recycled products.
Protecting Our Environment
Our team is passionate about creating end markets for recycled fibers. We turn what would have been waste into premium products that are good for the environment, your business, products and customers. For example, 1 square foot of an InfinityCore liner prevents 5 plastic water bottles from entering a landfill or waterway. We are protecting our planet one plastic liner at a time!
The Full Package of Sustainability
When it comes to packaging, we focus on the environment by sustaining your pay load. Spoiled or damaged products have a larger waste impact on our world than many companies realize. When we talk sustainability, we look at how our products were sourced, manufactured, and shipped. Finally, we look at how they perform during their useful life and how they can be recovered and reused after it is over.
Zero manufacturing Waste
All our products are recyclable back into our own lines in our mission to zero manufacturing waste. The products manufactured by CMS have also passed multiple sets of industrial recycling tests to show how they can be recycled curbside or by recycling facilities.
If your company ships perishable or fragile items, reach out to see how we can help provide a sustainable and reliable packaging solution!
